State Minister for Reconciliation meets OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Christophe Kamp

State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Tea Akhvlediani has met with the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, Christophe Kamp, who is currently paying an official visit to Georgia.

According to a press release by the State Minister’s Office, during the meeting, Tea Akhvlediani briefed the High Commissioner on the core activities and strategic priorities of the State Minister’s Office.

Discussions focused extensively on policies governing both reconciliation and engagement, as well as civic equality and integration. Akhvlediani provided an overview of the humanitarian and human rights situation in Georgia’s occupied territories, highlighting ongoing state efforts to support conflict-affected populations, improve their socio-economic conditions, and rebuild trust and cooperation based on shared interests across artificially divided communities.

The State Minister outlined Georgia’s civic equality and integration strategy, highlighting the mechanisms and programs in place to create an equal environment and encourage active civic engagement for ethnic minorities. She noted that these initiatives foster socio-economic integration and strengthen intercultural dialogue across the country. Akhvlediani added that the initial mid-term evaluation of the State Strategy for Civic Equality and Integration clearly demonstrates tangible progress achieved through effective policy implementation, particularly regarding the empowerment and participation of youth and women from ethnic minority backgrounds.

Tea Akhvlediani expressed her gratitude to the High Commissioner’s Office for its sustained cooperation over the years, characterised by high-level expert dialogue and institutional support. Both parties reviewed ways to deepen ties and agreed to maintain close collaboration.
