Catholicos Patriarch – We hope that issue of Davit Gareji will be resolved through brotherly affection and fairly
Participants of the 2nd Summit of World Religious Leaders in Baku, Azerbaijan, were introduced to the welcoming speech of Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II.
In his speech, Patriarch of Georgia focused on the issue of Davit Gareji, a rock-hewn Georgian Orthodox monastery complex. Patriarch underlined that the spirit of tolerance was nurtured under the leadership of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
“We hope that interests of your citizens, as well as representatives of religious and ethnic minorities living in your country, will continue to be met, and the issue of ancient Georgian cultural monument Davit Gareji will be resolved through brotherly affection and fairly as it befits friend countries and peoples,” Ilia II said.
The 2nd Summit of World Religious Leaders kicked off in Baku on November 14. The Summit aims to contribute to the development of inter-religious dialogue, promotion and evolution of such human values as mutual understanding and human solidarity.
