It is important now for the Russian Federation to provide all necessary evidence to Georgian authorities regarding the circumstances of the death of Irakli Kvaratskhelia, – Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia Carl Hartzell stated. He expressed his condolences to the relatives of the young man, who died in Gali district.
“Let me join others in expressing my condolences to the family of Irakli Kvaratskhkelia. While the European Union welcomes the speedy handover of his body, it is important now for the Russian Federation to provide all necessary evidence to Georgian authorities regarding the circumstances of his death.
Mr Kvaratskhkelia’s death is yet another tragic reminder of the hardships that are imposed on people on both sides of the dividing lines as a consequence of the conflicts and of the Russian military presence”, – Ambassador Hartzell stated.
Irakli Kvaratskhelia died in Russian military base in Nabakevi village of Gali district in unclear circumstances. The dead body of Irakli Kvaratskhelia was repatriated from the occupied territory through the Enguri Bridge on March 13. He will be buried at Senaki cemetery at 14:00 today.
