Bucharest Summit decision says Georgia, Ukraine to become members but "we did not say when," NATO SG says
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said the talks between NATO and Russia were “open, frank, and difficult,” but “that is exactly why the meeting was so important because we are at a critical moment for European security.”
In an interview with La Repubblica, Jens Stoltenberg recalled the Bucharest Summit, saying “we also made that decision at the NATO Summit in Bucharest that Georgia and Ukraine will become members but we did not say anything about when.”
The meeting of the NATO-Russia Council was held on Wednesday over the situation in Ukraine.
