“We all want a just and lasting peace. That’s what the President of America wants,” said British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who spoke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy from South Africa, where he is attending the G20 summit of world leaders.
Speaking to reporters after the call, the PM said: “We all want a just and lasting peace. That’s what the president of America wants, and that’s what we all want. And so we need to work from where we are to that end,” he said.Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer remarked that “Ukraine must determine its future.”
“But the principle that Ukraine must determine its future under its sovereignty is a fundamental principle,” he stated.
