Borjomi N1 Plant Director urges striking employees to resume work under new management

Director of IDS Borjomi N1 Plant Merab Metreveli urged the striking employees to resume work under the new management to recover the company.

He said that demanding a 25% wage rise is utopian amid the nearly suspended production process.

“The company is facing the most serious problems, with accounts frozen and exports halted by over 80%. The primary aim is to overcome the crisis and save the production,” Metreveli said.

He remarked that IDS Borjomi Georgia remains one of the biggest and best employers in the country; the company decided to keep 95% of its employees.

Employees of IDS Borjomi International have been on strike since this morning, demanding the administration end blackmail, pressure and dismissal of some staff, a return to their old jobs with the old terms and conditions, and a 25% wage increase.

IDS Borjomi International operates mineral water bottling plants in Georgia, Ukraine, and Russia.
