Border Police apprehend two individuals for illegally crossing Georgian border

Officers from the Operational-Investigative Department of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have detained two individuals at the “Vale” border sector of the Akhaltsikhe Division. The suspects, identified as U.S., born in 1994, and B.P., born in 1993, face charges of illegal border crossing.

The investigation has established that the defendants bypassed border checkpoints and illegally entered Georgia from Turkey on separate occasions.

The Border Police Press Service reports that the case is currently being prosecuted under Part 1 of Article 344 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a prison sentence of up to five years.
