According to the authorities, H.A. was apprehended at the Sarpi border crossing point while attempting to facilitate the illegal transfer of D.A. from Georgia to Türkiye in exchange for money. He was caught hiding D.A. in the trailer of a vehicle, bypassing passport control, and has been detained as a suspect.

“During searches of the detainees and the vehicle, law enforcement officers seized a significant amount of money as evidence. The investigation into the attempted illegal crossing of Georgia’s border and the attempted human smuggling is ongoing under Articles 19-344 and 19-344 Prima of the Criminal Code, which stipulate imprisonment of up to five years,” the statement reads.
