Batumi coast protection and shoreline arrangement works to be complete
Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has completed the Batumi coastal protection project.
According to the agency, the 2 km section of the coastline has been fully restored within the project. Works covered building the 1.8 km-shoreline, restoration of the storm-torn boulevard, laying a new boulevard sheet, and filling the beach with a sand-gravel mixture.
According to the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, the Italian international consulting company Technital prepared the project documentation for the Batumi shoreline, local experts discussed the project and sent it to the leadership of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara for approval. A tender-winner Dutch company Struijk carried out the construction work.
