Badri Japaridze says elections are priority; PM's candidacy to be addressed later
Badri Japaridze, one of the leaders of the Strong Georgia coalition, made a statement in Kutaisi regarding the upcoming elections and the process of selecting a prime ministerial candidate. He emphasized the importance of focusing on the elections before addressing other matters.
“The most important thing now is for everyone to focus on the elections. Afterwards, we will act by the spirit of our charter and return to discussing the issue of the prime ministerial candidate,” Japaridze declared.
“I can express the position of Strong Georgia that the president has full authority to name a candidate. However, in this case, I want to express Strong Georgia’s position, which shows great respect for her efforts. The president is playing a very significant role during this extremely challenging period for our country,” he stated.
Regarding the selection of candidates for prime minister and other ministerial positions, Japaridze emphasized that the primary goal at present is to remove the Georgian Dream party from power on October 26th.
“After that, we will act by the spirit of our charter. We will return to discussing this topic, but ultimately, the Georgian people will decide who should be the head of the next government,” he elaborated.
“It’s crucial that we all focus on the elections now. The October 26th elections must proceed calmly. The will of the Georgian people must be protected and ensured. Immediately after the October 26th elections, we will begin working on this issue,” Japaridze stressed.
