Bacho Dolidze resigns from UNM, plans new platform without merging with any political party

Bacho Dolidze has announced he is leaving the opposition United National Movement party, stressing a plan to establish a new platform, which will “allow us to make a different and clean politics.”

“I am leaving UNM because it is time for a new movement. A thorough understanding of the past, a fresh perspective, innovative ideas, and a new approach to the voters can lead this country out of the crisis deepened by a particularly polarized society.

The new platform will be established, allowing for novel, distinct, and transparent policies.

The vision of new individuals and the extensive experience of politicians will undoubtedly yield positive results. We aim to establish a new, economically sustainable, and depolarized Georgia. The political party that emerges from this initiative will include new faces alongside experienced politicians,” Dolidze said.

He clarified that the new movement would not unite with any existing political party, emphasizing their intention to offer society an entirely new policy.

“In preparation for the 2024 elections, our political force will play a leading role at the forefront of the struggle. Technical details, such as a congress and related matters, will be announced shortly.

Over the year, a substantial divergence in perspective and vision has emerged between us and the new management of the party. Unfortunately, we could not find common ground, leading to a fundamental shift in our approach. Regrettably, UNM’s new management made the realization of our vision impossible,” Dolidze noted.
