Axel Fischer: Challenges facing Georgia should not be solved by violence, I call on all sides to consider all issues through negotiation

Bundestag member Axel Fischer says he is concerned about the developments in Georgia following the parliamentary elections.

As Fischer writes on the social network Facebook, democracy and the rule of law are an important cornerstone in building a successful, European future for Georgia.

According to him, the challenges facing Georgia should not be solved by violence and division. Axel Fischer calls on all parties to consider all issues only within the framework of the rule of law.

“I am very concerned about the developments in Georgia following the Georgian parliamentary elections. Democracy and the rule of law are an important cornerstone in building Georgia’s successful European future. These basic principles should also be a commitment to all parties and citizens.

The challenges facing Georgia cannot and should not be solved by violence and division. Future polarization will only deepen the conflict.

I call on all sides to consider all issues only within the framework of the rule of law, through negotiation and consensus, in order to avoid any act of violence that would harm the Georgian state and democracy. Attacking state institutions is unacceptable” –  Axel Fischer wrote.
