The print edition of Austrian Public Broadcaster – ORF Nachrichten – has published an article on Georgia as a particularly successful country in the fight against coronavirus.

As the article claims, this small country in the South Caucasus, a kind of an ‘island’ surrounded by highly infected countries, became popular by its strategy of fighting the deadly virus.

“Georgia has proven to everyone that rapid response, discipline and tough action (sometimes not very popular) are the recipes for success in the fight against COVID-19,” the article reads.

The author of the article noted that due to the successful moves in the fight against the virus, Georgia has attracted a number of influential international publications or analytical centres (BBC, American and British analytical centres), that studied Georgia’s example.

ORF Nachrichten relied on those studies and mentioned Georgia’s ‘three musketeers’ who helped country fight virus – the head of the NCDC, Amiran Gamkrelidze, the man in charge of the Lugar lab, Paata Imnadze, and the main virologist, Tengiz Tsertsvadze, the head of Tbilisi’s infectious diseases, Aids and immunology research centre.

The author pointed out that Georgia had been planning to open international tourism from July 1, but decided to postpone as the country is cautious.
