The anti-drug campaign “Me in the Future” has been launched in schools, aiming to prevent the use of psychoactive substances among adolescents and to promote a healthy lifestyle. The campaign is the initiative of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth.
Minister of Internal Affairs Geka Geladze, together with Minister of Education, Science and Youth Givi Mikanadze, introduced the draft of this new anti-drug initiative to the school community. The Minister emphasised the importance of the project, stating that creating a healthy and safe environment for the future generation remains the government’s top priority.
In the initial phase of the campaign, law enforcement officers, school resource officers, psychologists, social workers, and trainer-resource officers will jointly hold information sessions with 6th and 9th-grade students in 60 public schools across Georgia by the end of the year. These meetings will focus on the harmful effects of psychoactive substances, prevention strategies, and encouraging adolescents to adopt healthy lifestyles. Alongside these informational sessions, activities such as a comic book competition, sports events, and other educational activities are planned.
It is noteworthy that representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the school resource officer service have developed an updated module for student meetings, collaborated on practical components, and conducted simulation sessions to facilitate the campaign.
Initially, these meetings will take place in Tbilisi, Adjara, and Kvemo Kartli. The campaign receives support from the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
