Annual inflation rate to be 7.2% in April

The Consumer Price Index increased by 0.9% in April compared to the previous month, while the annual inflation rate amounted to 7.2%, Georgia’s National Statistics Office (GeoStat) reported on Tuesday.

The prices increased by 6.93 % regarding the annual core inflation, while the annual core inflation without tobacco amounted to 6.87 %.

According to Geostat, the price increases for the following groups mainly influenced the monthly inflation rate: transport ( increase by 3.0%), clothing and footwear 4.9%), furnishings, household equipment and maintenance ( 2.1 %), food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.3%).

The price changes for the following groups mainly influenced the annual inflation rate: transport (up by 12.4 %), housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (7.1 %), health (13.8 %), food and non-alcoholic beverages ( 3.0 %) and restaurants and hotels (15.0 %).
