Massive attacks on a female candidate are unacceptable in a democratic society and do not serve the interests of the Georgian people, – Ana Gomes, Member of the European Parliament, said at the European Parliament plenary session.
“The first round of elections was held in a calm and competitive environment. We monitored these elections. The environment of the pre-election campaign was tense.
It is necessary that everyone, including the government, media and candidates take responsibility and do not deepen polarization and do not spread hate. Massive attacks on a female candidate are unacceptable in a democratic society and in no way serve the interests of the Georgian people,” MEP said.
