Amendments to 2025 state budget: Increased funding for some agencies, reduced funding for others
Following the amendments to the 2025 state budget, the total budget allocations amount to 27,952.9 million GEL, representing an increase of 11.2 million GEL compared to the originally approved plan.
Funding for the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories of Georgia, Labour, Health and Social Protection has been increased by 133.0 million GEL, bringing its total to 8,953.0 million GEL.
Notably, an additional 195.0 million GEL has been allocated to support the universal healthcare programme, primarily to enhance funding for oncology patients.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture will see its budget rise by 248.3 million GEL to a total of 1,056.4 million GEL. These funds will mainly be directed towards supporting the harvest, as well as the construction and rehabilitation of land reclamation systems.
Increased allocations have also been approved for the Ministry of Defence, the State Security Service, and the Ministry of Sport.
Conversely, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure will experience a reduction of 201.7 million GEL, with its total now set at 2,923.3 million GEL. Of this, funding for road infrastructure will be decreased by 137.3 million GEL.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Youth will have its budget reduced by 249.2 million GEL, while allocations to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development will be decreased by 48.4 million GEL.
The Ministry of Justice’s funding will be reduced by 32.3 million GEL, of which 28 million GEL represents savings within the allocations allocated for the representation of the state in arbitrations, foreign courts, and international tribunals.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will see a reduction of 11.0 million GEL, primarily due to savings resulting from a strengthening exchange rate.
Funding for the Parliament of Georgia will be scaled back by 20.0 million GEL, accounting for savings realised throughout the year.
The Central Election Commission’s budget will be reduced by 9.0 million GEL, also based on accumulated savings.
Lastly, allocations to the common courts will be decreased by 25.0 million GEL, in accordance with a decision by the High Council of Justice.
