Ambassador Herczynski: EU welcomes inviting OSCE/ODIHR election observers for long-term mission

“We are very satisfied that the Georgian government has decided to send an invitation to OSCE/ODIHR for a long-term observation mission,” said Pawel Herczynski, the European Union Ambassador to Georgia.

According to the Ambassador, the EU will be closely monitoring the 2024 parliamentary elections in Georgia. He said he hoped that the elections would be conducted in line with the highest international standards.

“What Josep Borell said was loud and clear that doors to the European Union are open but it is for Georgians to walk through those doors. We all know nine steps. The second step is free and fair elections as well as a free and fair electoral process, of course, we will be monitoring very closely.

We are very satisfied that the Georgian government has decided to send an invitation to OSCE/ODIHR for a long-term observation mission. We sincerely hope that these elections will be conducted in line with the highest international standards so that Georgia’s democracy is stronger and Georgia is better prepared to become a member of the European Union as soon as possible,” he said.
