Ambassador Degnan hopes Georgian authorities to have opportunity to investigate their own allegations

Something like the BBC investigation is an important component. I would hope that again, Georgian authorities have the opportunity to investigate their own allegations, said U.S. Ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan, on Thursday.

“We do not preview our sanctions. This is a good example of how important investigative journalism, investigations by authorities are to provide the kind of information, both public source and non-publicly disclosed information, that form the basis for these kinds of measures. Obviously, we go through our own very rigorous, thorough process to evaluate information before taking any kind of a step like this. Something like the BBC investigation is an important component. I would hope that again, Georgian authorities have the opportunity to investigate their own allegations, to do their own investigation into the allegations like this, and this is a kind of information that can be a part of that,” Kelly Degnan stated.

The BBC Eye published a journalistic investigation and identified that former Defense Minister of Georgia Davit Kezerashvili organized a shadowy network of business people, standing behind a global scamming network of robbing European pensioners of more than a billion dollars.
