Alilo traditional Christmas procession marching has been held in Tbilisi today. Alilo took a start from First Republic Square at noon and ended at Sameba (Holy Trinity) Cathedral.
The procession participants stopped at different places and gathered food and candies from people. The gathered food and gifts will be distributed to orphanages, elderly houses and penitentiary facilities.
Alilo processions were also held in the regions of Georgia.
The Alilo tradition dates back from the 5-6th centuries. Its celebration was resumed a few years ago.
