ALDE outraged by BBC investigation, urges for independent, international inquiry

“European liberals are outraged by today’s BBC investigation revealing that the Georgian authorities used a World War I chemical weapon against peaceful pro-EU protesters in 2024, a shocking assault on fundamental rights!” reads the statement of the ALDE Party posted on the X Platform.

The ALDE calls on partners to restrict the transfer of equipment that could be turned against civilians.

“We support our member parties and the opposition demanding an independent international inquiry and urge partners to restrict the transfer of equipment that could be turned against civilians.

We’ve stood with the courageous people of Georgia in their fight for a democratic, pro-European future for the past 365 days of protest, and we will continue to stand with Georgia,” the ALDE wrote.
