Airbus representative: Georgia successfully introduced Airport Pavement Rating system

The United Airport of Georgia (UAG) is hostting a regional meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Tbilisi.

According to the UAG, the meeting in collaboration with Airbus, aims to effectively implement new standards and requirements by the ICAO to improve flight safety at airports.

According to Cyril Fabre, Airbus aircraft pavement loading policy expert, Georgia successfully introduced the Airport Pavement Classification (ACR/PCR) Rating system.

As Cyril Fabre noted, In terms of aircrafts, Airbus passenger jets have the largest percentage flying in Georgian airports, especially in the Kutaisi International Airport, namely A321neo, A321ceo, და A320neo/ceo jets.

“We are actively working in the introduction of Airport Pavement Classification (ACR/PCR) Rating system. We are here to explain to the ICAO each member the concept,” he said.

After the completion of the construction of a new runway and related airfield infrastructure at Kutaisi International Airport, the airport will be evaluated by the ICAO’s new ACR/PCR system.
