Agriculture Minister participates in second session of Georgia–Kyrgyzstan bilateral trade and economic commission
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Davit Songhulashvili, is currently on an official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic alongside Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and other members of the cabinet.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, during the visit, Davit Songhulashvili participated in the second session of the Georgia–Kyrgyzstan Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
“The convening of this second session of the Joint Trade and Economic Commission underscores our mutual commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation across various sectors. The commission serves as an essential platform for identifying new opportunities, addressing shared challenges, and reinforcing practical cooperation,” Davit Songhulashvili noted.
Davit Songhulashvili stated that agriculture remains one of the cornerstone areas of cooperation between Georgia and Kyrgyzstan. The Minister highlighted the vital importance of exchanging expertise and best practices in fields such as food safety, the implementation of international standards, organic farming, viticulture, fruit growing, and agro-processing.
“Georgia stands ready to share its experience with our partners and to foster cooperation in specialist training, technology exchange, and institutional capacity building. These processes will facilitate the production of high-value products and improve access to international markets,” the Minister stated.
Furthermore, Davit Songhulashvili addressed issues regarding environmental protection and sustainable development. He observed that there is significant potential for collaboration between the two countries in ecotourism and the sustainable management of protected areas.
The Minister concluded that collaboration between Georgia and Kyrgyzstan will not only strengthen their bilateral partnership but also contribute to achieving long-term socio-economic and environmental goals across the wider region.
