Agriculture Minister: Georgian farmers must produce goods in demand on international markets, beyond traditional production

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Davit Songhulashvili, visited the Timeo snail farm in Mtskheta Municipality and learned about the company’s operations.

LLC Timeo produces snail meat and shells. The company’s sales markets include Italy and France. The enterprise employs between 250 and 300 people.

“It is important that farmers in Georgia have the opportunity to create products that are in demand on international markets, in addition to traditional production. Snail meat has export potential, and processing the shells adds even greater economic value. Our goal is precisely to create such new opportunities in the regions and to diversify the Georgian agricultural sector; to establish more modern and competitive production in Georgia, which will have the potential to establish itself in the local market as well as export abroad,” noted Davit Songhulashvili.

According to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, alongside the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the snail farm was visited by Deputy Minister Lasha Avaliani, Director of the Rural Development Agency Zurab Gozalishvili, Head of the National Food Agency Giorgi Iakobashvili, Mayor of Mtskheta Municipality Gogi Abuashvili, and Chairman of the Mtskheta Municipality City Council Giorgi Eloshvili.
