18-metre buses to operate on Route No. 304 from May 16

“18-metre buses will begin operating on Route No. 304 from May 16,” Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced at a session of the Tbilisi Municipality Government.

According to the Mayor, this change will reduce the existing service interval on the route, making it possible to carry twice as many passengers.

“The Tbilisi Transport and Urban Development Agency, taking into account requests from the public, is continuing to modify municipal bus routes to improve transport services. On this occasion, we are implementing changes to Route No. 304, which operates along Vazha-Pshavela Avenue and Kavtaradze Street towards the so-called Maghlivi building of Tbilisi State University. From May 16, the 12-metre buses currently serving this route will be replaced by 18-metre vehicles. As a result, the existing service interval will be reduced, allowing us to carry twice as many passengers. The buses freed up in the process will be redeployed on other routes to reduce intervals there as well,” said the city’s Mayor.

He further noted that an additional 200 buses are planned for procurement to enhance municipal transport services. As the new buses are introduced on their routes, we’ll redistribute the freed-up resources across all priority sectors.
