Former Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Vano Merabishvili has left the prison today. His sentence has expired today.
Georgia’s former Interior and Prime Minister was arrested in May 2013. The general courts have found him guilty in relation with several cases, including the case of illegally confiscating the Aura winery – two years and three months; Hiding evidence in Sandro Girgvliani’s case – three years; Dispersal of May 26, 2011 rally – four years and six months; Case of Kvariati Cottage and bribing the voters – five years; Physical assault on Valeri Gelashvili – six years and nine months.
Merabishvili may face further charges for the raid in Imedi TV in 2007 and the dispersal of another rally on November 7, 2007.
