UNICEF – 7% of Children in Georgia live under extreme poverty level

The 6.8% of children, 3.7% of pensioners and 5.0% of the population in Georgia live under extreme poverty level – the research of UNICEF says.

The extreme poverty level is considered to be expenditure in the amount of USD 1.25 a day. This means that every person in the family spends 3 GEL per day, which amounts 82.8 GEL per person a month.

The research is based on a panel survey of families conducted once every 2 years and comprises all regions and territories controlled by the Georgian government.
