Ten families, victims of Leogrand hotel fire provided with compensation

Ten families, who became victims of Leogrand hotel fire in Batumi city of Adjara region have been provided with one-time compensation, – hotel lawyer Kakha Tsereteli reported. 

According to Tsereteli, written agreements have already been signed with the families concerning reimbursement of material loss but the lawyer does not concretize the amounts issued as compensations. “We refer to not only the compensation but providing the deceased’s children with assistance while they are underage,” Tsereteli said. 

Reports say each family has received 50 000 USD. As for the family of the other deceased who are not citizens of Georgia, lawyer says negotiations have also been over with them. 

Hotel Leogrand, located in Batumi was hit by the severe fire on November 24, 2017. The fire claimed 11 lives. 21 people were hospitalized.  Investigation is in progress over the accident.
