Special portal created for 2021 Elections

A special portal – 2021 Elections has been created. Voters can obtain information about the October 2 polls at elections2021.ge.

Shalva Papuashvili, ruling Georgian Dream MP, said at a briefing that local elections would be held under the reformed Election Code and election administration.

According to Papuashvili, the opposition participated in the selection of 99.9% of the 29,000 professional members of the district election commissions. Papuashvili also elaborated on further measures taken to protect the freedom of voting. He explained that public gathering is prohibited in a 100-meter radius from the polling station. Also, 10% of randomly selected precincts will be recounted, while the vote tabulation procedure will be video recorded and publicly available.

“Today, we would like to present another novelty that the Georgian Dream party will offer to the population during these elections, and in this way, it will be unprecedented. We think it is important that the elections and the Election Day itself, as the most fundamental moment of democracy, should be under the special attention of the citizens,” Papuashvili said.

Georgia will hold municipal elections on October 2.
