The sitting of the Holy Synod of the Georgian Orthodox Church will be held on October 31. The Patriarchate announced on Tuesday evening that the decision about the summoning of the sitting was made by Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II.
The Patriarch’s Secretary Michael Botkoveli asked journalists to abstain from making harsh comments about ongoing developments without verification of the information in advance.
“Please, not tell the public about the news heard at the crossroad. This causes tension and charges the public with negative emotions,” Botkoveli said.
The Patriarch’s Secretary also reported that the Holy Synod would decide whether or not the issue of Bishop Iakob should be discussed during the sitting.
