“We have entered the stage of full-scale internal transmission of the virus in the country. Now we are preparing to enter the peak phase of the coronavirus,” Georgian Prime Minister’s adviser Irakli Chokovani said at today’s briefing at Government Administration.
PM’s adviser noted that restrictions will be further tightened in Tbilisi, Rustavi, Kutaisi and Batumi.
“According to the government’s decision, entering or leaving the big cities of Georgia – Tbilisi, Rustavi, Batumi, and Kutaisi – will be prohibited for 10 days. The measure is aimed at reducing the mobility of citizens in large cities as much as possible,” Chikovani said.
Georgia has confirmed six new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 306. According to the official data, 69 patients have fully recovered from the virus. Three people died.
Currently, 4990 people remain under quarantine and 462– in inpatient care.
