PM, European Commissioner, meet in Brussels

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili met the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, in Brussels, Belgium.

The sides focused talks on the progress of Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration path and Association Agreement reforms. PM reconfirmed Georgia’s ambition to make an official application for the European Union membership in 2024.

An expanded meeting with the participation of Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani and Georgia’s Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, Head of the Georgian Mission to the European Union Natalie Sabanadze, accentuated Covid-19 pandemic related challenges, social and economic outcomes and equal accessibility to Covid-19 vaccines.

The sides also talked about the situation across occupied regions and Georgia’s peaceful policy in the territorial conflict resolution.

PM Gharibashvili said that the Georgian government was ready for the result-oriented constructive political dialogue. He welcomed the engagement of EU officials in the negotiations process.
