Office of State Minister comments about death of a prisoner in pre-trial isolator of occupied Tskhinvali

The Office of Georgian State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality comments about death of prisoner Inal Jabiev in a pre-trial isolator of occupied Tskhinvali region.

According to Office of State Minister, death of the prisoner once again confirms the difficult security and human rights situation facing locals in occupied Tskhinvali region.

The State Minister’s Office expresses deep concern about the distressing developments that claimed life of a young man on August 28.

“During years amid the ongoing occupation, and as a result of the fact that the occupational regime has not been held responsible for a single tragic case in recent years, the situation with respect of human rights and security of locals is becoming more difficult.

The Georgian government, with all the available mechanisms, continues making efforts to give the population the opportunity to safe and normal life,” reads the statement.

Also, the Office of Georgian State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality calls on international partners to keep on pressuring the occupational regime to stop facts of harsh violation of human rights on occupied territories.

Jabiev was arrested on August 24 on charge of an attack on de-facto Minister of Internal Affairs. Jabiev died in hospital where he was transferred from the temporary detention facility being in unconscious condition.
