Natia Turnava: We consistently implement policy of adaptation, we impose local, pinpoint, sectoral restrictions and not general lockdown

We consistently implement the policy of adaptation and this is reflected in the fact that the restrictions are still local, pinpoint, sectoral, and not general lockdown, – said the Minister of Economy, Natia Turnava at a briefing after the meeting of the Coordination Council.

According to the Minister, “the increased number of infected people and the epidemic are much more damaging to the economy than short-term and local restrictions.”

“The limitations that we offer and talk about with business these days are still not universal, it is not the so-called lockdown. These restrictions are local because they will be implemented in specific cities. Also, it is non-universal, but sectoral, because it will focus on specific sectors, which traditionally generates more mobility not only in our country but also in Europe and other countries. These are mostly non-food shops, fairs, restaurants, and winter resorts. It is noteworthy that limited economic sectors, limited businesses are incompletely stagnant, except public transport, as they will shift to other forms of activity. We consistently implement the policy of adaptation and this is reflected in the fact that the restrictions are still local, pinpoint, sectoral, and not general lockdown”, – Natia Turnava said.
