Libya summit - Countries agree on commitment to UN arms embargo

The summit on Libya’s long-running conflict has ended. The countries agreed not to provide further military support to the warring parties while a ceasefire lasts. The sanctions will be imposed on those breaking an arms embargo.

Host Angela Merkel said that “all participants worked really constructively together.”

“We all agree that we should respect the arms embargo and that the arms embargo should be controlled more strongly than it has been in the past,” Merkel stressed.

The presidents of Russia, Turkey and France joined other leaders at the talks hosted by the German chancellor, Angela Merkel in Berlin.
