Investigation on fact of exceed of power into Temirlan Machalikashvili’s case closed

The investigation on the fact of exceeding of power into death case of Temirlan Machalikashvili, a 19-year-old youth killed during the December 26, 2017, anti-terrorist raid in Panksi, has been closed – The Tbilisi Prosecutor’s Office announced today during the briefing.

The investigation determined that Temirlan Machalikashvili suffered a fatal injury to the head he received during the special operation after an officer of the Special Operations Department of State Security Service fired in the bedroom of Machalikashvilis’ house. The youngster died on January 10 of 2018 at Archangel St Michael Clinical Hospital.

According to Tbilisi Prosecutor’s Office, the shot made by Special Task Unit officer was a necessity. Temirlan Machalikashvili did not obey the order of Special Tasks Unit officer to show his hands and tried to detonate a hand-grenade, which was later confiscated from the house as a result of a search.

Tbilisi Prosecutor’s Office reported that 124 persons had been questioned into the case and more than 10 different expertises had been conducted.

The raid in Duisi village of Pankisi Gorge was linked to Ahmed Chatayev and his associates who were killed in the special operation at Monk Gabriel Salosi Street in Tbilisi.

As reported, the detainees including Temirlan Machalikashvili had helped the terrorists to illegally cross into Georgia, found an apartment as well as provided them with firearms.
