GD MP Papuashvili believes opposition parties failed in their declared referendum

“The opposition parties do not think about a coalition government. They somehow want to form a shadow government with each other that is hypocrisy,” said Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Education Committee.

According to Papuashvili, the opposition declared the October 2 municipal elections a referendum, and they lost it.

“The opposition will once again lose in the runoffs. They will have to accept the choice of Georgian people. We won in 44 from 64 municipalities, and we will end this struggle with victory in the runoffs,” the ruling team’s lawmaker claimed.

Papuashvili also called on public servants to disregard the calls of the United National Movement (UNM) party and a Ukrainian citizen (meaning ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili). He said the UNM aims at destabilization only.

“They speak about reconciliation and Saakashvili’s arrival with a peaceful mission. However, their only purpose is to cause destabilization and disorder in the country. Their appeals reveal their actual intentions and serve as direct calls for disobedience to the law,” Papuashvili stated.
