The statement of the so-called Security Committee of occupied Tskhinvali says that the provocation on the so-called border is connected to the large-scale protests ongoing in Tbilisi. According to the statement, Gaprindashvili violated the border on November 9 and the fact was well prepared in advance.

Based on the statement, Gaprindashvili was on a business trip and visited the Baltic Counties, including Estonia, at the beginning of November. On November 6, the doctor received the money transfer in the amount of 12 thousand GEL on his Bank of Georgia account. Then he notified his patients that he was leaving Tbilisi and would resume meetings with patients after November 11.

The so-called Security Committee of occupied Tskhinvali also says that they have recordings of Gaprindashvili’s telephone conversations. The Committee says that Gaprinashvili met with his colleague Irakli Kartozia on November 9 and departed for Sakorintlo village of Kaspi district. “During questioning, Gaprindashvili explained that he had crossed the border with the intention to visit the church of Monastery village. He rejected answering questions about his political viewpoints but said that he supported Georgia’s integration into NATO. He said that he considered South Ossetia as Georgia’s territory, while Russia – the main enemy of Georgia,” reads the statement.

The so-called Security Committee explained that efforts of official Tbilisi, opposition and western curators to pressure South Ossetian authorities with the purpose of improving rating had no perspective.
