According to the NDI survey support for EU and NATO membership is strong in Georgia

The National-Democratic Institute (NDI) and CRRC Georgia have present the first part of the results of the survey conducted in April 2019.

According to the NDI survey, support for EU and NATO membership is strong in Georgia.

To the question: Do you approve or disapprove the Georgian government’s stated goal to join the EU? – 77% of respondents said that they “approve”;  joining EU is strongly approved by 55%.

According to the authors of the survey, supporters of joining the EU explain their decision for the following reasons: It will improve Georgian economy, it will provide greater security for Georgia and will create more jobs.

To the question: Do you approve or disapprove of Georgian government’s stated goal to join NATO? – 74 % of respondents said that they “approve”, 55% said that they “strongly approve” to join NATO.

The survey was conducted on 28 March – 15 April. 2,927 people were interviewed throughout Georgia (excluding occupied territories). The average margin of error is +/- 2,3 %.
