Nika Gvaramia: Until expiration of terms of appeal, transfer of TV Company to Kibar Khalvashi's ownership will be considered as misappropriation

“Tea Tsulukiani’s interpretation on the immediate entry of the Strasbourg court’s decision into force is a legally incorrect interpretation”, – said Nika Gvaramia, Director General of Rustavi 2 TV Company.

Director-General of Rustavi 2, calls on the Ministry of Justice not to register the Rustavi 2 TV Company under Kibar Khalvashi’s ownership until the expiration of the terms of appeal.

According to Gvaramia, the transfer of TV Company to Kibar Khalvashi will be considered as misappropriation of Rustavi 2.

“If this is done, we will assess this as a criminal act and misappropriation of Rustavi 2. We have the right to appeal. Illegal registration will violate the Constitution of Georgia and the European Convention. In my opinion, it will be an abuse of power”, – Nika Gvaramia stated at a special briefing.

The European Court of Human Rights has announced the decision into the case of Rustavi 2 TV company. The parties have a three-month period to appeal to the decision to the Grand Chamber of the Strasbourg Court. If the decision is not appealed within the timeframe, it will enter into force after three months.
