With today opinion, Georgia is firmly anchored on its EU path, EU’s Borrell says

With today’s Opinion of the European Commission, Georgia made a leap forward on its EU path, said Josep Borrell, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

“Georgians’ continued aspirations to secure their rightful place in the EU family has made another leap forward possible today. And every step brings it closer to making it reality. With today’s Opinion, Georgia is firmly anchored on its EU path,” Borrell tweeted.

European Commission recommended the European Council grant Georgia the European perspective but said it will come back and assess how it meets a number of conditions before giving it the candidate status.

The EC granted Ukraine and Moldova candidate status.
