Georgian Environment Protection and Agriculture Minister Otar Shamugia attended the Wine Festival in Gurjaani, the eastern Kakheti region.
The Minister spoke about Georgia’s 8000-year-long history of winemaking and Georgian wines’ popularization abroad.
“The world recognizes Georgia as the wine cradle and wine is our visit card,” he said, adding that Georgian wine producing companies were exporting their wine in approximately 70 countries globally.
According to the Ministry, over 200 small entrepreneurs, wine plants and cellars took part in the festival.
The Wine Festival was held in different towns at the initiative of the Georgian Prime Minister with the official partnership of the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC).
