Waste Management strategy to be elaborated

The final agreement has been reached with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and waste management strategy will be worked out – Kakha Kaladze, Tbilisi Mayor reported during the city governmental sitting.

According to Tbilisi Mayor, the document will be based on obligations as per the Associated Agreement and will lay foundation to separation of waste.

“Europe and developed world acknowledged that waste is not something to get rid of. It can be processed and used for various purposes,” Kaladze stated.

Kaladze said that a similar agreement regarding construction of a waste management plant existed in the past. However, it was not enforced since the project was outdated and was not in compliance with Associated Agreement.
