Volski: Recognition of territorial integrity must be priority regardless of Venezuela’s government configuration
“Our interest and primary objective is that, whatever configuration of government is formed in Venezuela, Georgia’s territorial integrity must be recognised,” stated Gia Volski, First Vice-Speaker of Parliament.
According to Volski, this would represent yet another success for the non-recognition policy, which is being implemented rather intensively worldwide.
Moreover, Gia Volski argues that the Georgian government is pursuing an optimal policy.
“We believe that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ statement, as well as the government’s statement in this regard, is adequate and proportionate to the resources and levers that Georgia possesses. It would be quite questionable for the Georgian government to succeed by making any loud declarations in this instance, especially when there is a whole cohort of destructive forces within Georgia determined to interpret any statement, such as presenting Mamuka Mdinaradze’s remarks from fourteen months ago, in an entirely different light.
Consequently, whatever configuration of government is formed in Venezuela, what matters to us is that Georgia’s territorial integrity be recognised, including by Venezuela, and this will be yet another success for the non-recognition policy, which is being implemented rather intensively worldwide. This is our interest. This is our primary objective.
Furthermore, let us consider that such global processes are underway in the world that will determine humanity’s tomorrow. Consequently, the policy pursued by the government, given these processes and, in fact, being in the line of fire, is optimal, one that will preserve Georgia. This applies not only to specific actions, but also to the substance of statements,” noted Gia Volski.
