Vice Speaker Tsilosani: I imagined the end of politically decimated UNM exactly like this: airing their dirty laundry in public
“I imagined the final demise of the politically decimated United National Movement exactly like this: each of them forced to speak out publicly about the dirty dealings that occurred behind closed doors back when they still styled themselves as the opposition,” declared Vice Speaker of Parliament Nino Tsilosani.
According to Tsilosani, it is now a matter of public record that Ana Tsitlidze exposed how Nika Gvaramia stabbed Mikheil Saakashvili and the United National Movement (UNM) in the back.
“This concerns the 2024 elections, where it was easy to see that the Ahali party siphoned off UNM’s votes and essentially carved up voter support, distinctly in favour of Ahali.
The details are particularly revealing: Gvaramia went to Nika Gilauri on Saakashvili’s instructions to secure funding for UNM, only to redirect those funds to serve his own political ambitions. It is hardly surprising that hardline UNM members are reacting with such fury.
Tsitlidze herself has spoken out about how Gvaramia embezzled money during the Rustavi 2 era. For them, pocketing money is nothing new, whether in media or in politics. We are thoroughly enjoying watching this circus unfold,” Tsilosani said.
