Vice Speaker Tsilosani: EU began to abandon its own values, principles when it started criticising Georgia unfairly
“The European Union began to abandon its own values and principles when it started criticising Georgia unfairly,” said Nino Tsilosani, Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament.
According to Tsilosani, the EU is considering admitting new members with a status without the right to veto.
“Veto is a loud statement and the right of a state. It is the right of a member state to reject and suspend in some form a decision adopted or supported by other states, which may be considered unacceptable as contrary to the interests of the state. We are following the process of oppressing new members.
Aside from the fact that it is not known when the EU will enlarge and when new members will join the union, we see that they are forming a segregated EU where one part has rights and privileges, while the other part has no rights but many obligations,” she said.
On June 15, before the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos confirmed to reporters that new EU members will be restricted from their right to veto.
