“Relevant authorities will no longer just monitor past cases, but will carry out oversight in real time. The State Audit Office has already introduced real-time monitoring practices for public tenders and state procurement,” announced Mamuka Mdinaradze, Georgia’s Vice Prime Minister and State Minister for Law Enforcement Coordination, during a press briefing.

The Vice Prime Minister added that over the course of 2026, the Audit Office plans to scrutinise approximately 100 departments and organisations across central, autonomous, and local government levels.

“In today’s briefing, I want to address several critical issues that have a qualitative impact on the Georgian state and our society.

First and foremost, regarding anti-corruption measures, relevant agencies will no longer review cases retrospectively but will conduct real-time oversight. For instance, the State Audit Office has already rolled out live monitoring for public tenders and state procurement.

For 2026, the Audit Office has scheduled audits of approximately one hundred central, regional and municipal bodies. Through its targeted recommendations and the detection of irregularities, the service has already recovered or saved tens of millions of lari for the state budget. In fact, over the last few months alone, the financial value of the case files transferred from the Audit Office to the Prosecutor’s Office totals 50 million GEL,” Mdinaradze noted.
