“It is highly symbolic that the Foreign Minister of Georgia is standing alongside the US Secretary of State, at a time when there is talk of a potential normalisation of relations between Georgia and the United States, yet certain television stations choose to ignore this completely,” stated Mamuka Mdinaradze, Vice Prime Minister and State Minister for Law Enforcement Coordination, during a press briefing at the Government Administration.

Mamuka Mdinaradze noted that this is a very positive gesture of the hosts.

“Let us not overstate this; it is a standard, yet incredibly positive development. I emphasise the words ‘on the path to potential normalisation’; this is a very good gesture from our hosts. Secondly, yes, Georgia has a very acute and painful experience regarding the issues currently being discussed by representatives and leaders of the current US administration, in contrast to the previous administration. Georgia intimately understands the harsh realities currently under discussion by our American colleagues; while delayed, this renewed focus by the new administration is highly welcome. This bitter experience helps us to make a correct analysis and, crucially, helps the Georgian people to draw the right conclusions,” Mdinaradze stated.

For context, the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, participated in the ministerial meeting on “The Resurgence of Political Terrorism” in Washington, D.C., at the invitation of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, where she addressed the gathered delegates.
