Various activities to be held in different countries regarding Day of National Unity
Various activities will be held in different countries regarding the 30th anniversary of April 9 Tragedy in Tbilisi now declared as Day of National Unity in Georgia. The events are organized by the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Georgian Diplomatic representations abroad.
A photo exhibition reflecting the April 9 developments in Tbilisi will be held in Georgian representations in Azerbaijan, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Moldova, New York, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Finland, Netherlands and Norway.
Georgian Ambassadors Plenipotentiaries will read lectures in Austria, Belarus, Poland and Hungary. A peaceful protest will be organized in Geneva, Switzerland, outside the United Nations building.
Articles about April 9 Tragedy will be published in Brazil, Belgium, Vatican, Kuwait, Czech Republic, Portugal, Spain, Slovenia, Armenia, Romania and Kazakhstan. Cognitive activities and conferences are planned in Egypt, Ukraine, Ireland, Saudi Arabia and France for representatives of analytical circles, Georgian Diaspora and media.
The April 9 Tragedy refers to the events developed in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1989 when an anti-Soviet demonstration was dispersed by the Soviet Army, resulting in 21 deaths and hundreds of injuries. April 9 is now remembered as the Day of National Unity.
