US Embassy - U.S. is proud to partner with Georgia

The U.S. is proud to partner with Georgia to continue supporting a nation that is sovereign and free, – the US Embassy in Georgia published a statement on its facebook page in connection with the day of Soviet Occupation.

The long-lasting fight is not easy, everyone wants to breathe freely but be sure that it will be worse if the enemy defeats us, destroys our families, land and freedom.  The Georgian nation has a great and notable history; We, Georgians, are always distinguished by devotion for our homeland. Our country is restored, flourished, we have happy days, our nation has finally freed from chains, slavery and can breathe freely. Do we have right to lose these achievements? No, it will never happen. Georgian people have never been coward and will never be.

On this somber day we remember Colonel Alexandre Chkeidze’s defiant and inspiring words at the first graduation of cadets from the Georgian Military School in 1920. Just five months later, the Red Army occupied Tbilisi. Despite the ensuing 70-year Soviet Occupation, the resilient Georgian spirit was never broken. The U.S. is proud to partner with Georgia to continue supporting a nation that is sovereign and free”, – the statement reads.
